Bluewater Refugee Education Project’s (BREP’s) primary activity is to advance the education of European and Middle Eastern refugees and other displaced persons.
BREP’s charitable efforts are focused on identifying and supporting refugees and other displaced persons in Europe and the Middle East who would qualify for post-secondary education but whose condition, economically and/or socially, precludes their being able to advance their education and become significant contributors to society. Our goal is to help those refugees who would otherwise be unable to pursue their aspirations for a higher education and potentially help them either contribute to their local society, or if desired, to immigrate to Canada to contribute to the Canadian economy as highly skilled workers.
“The charitable status of BREP offered an attractive solution for a local group sponsoring a Syrian refugee family in Lebanon during their refugee application process for Canada. As the likelihood of being accepted in Canada dwindled, the sponsorship group sought options to pay for the family’s son to complete high school in Lebanon, both to provide him with better opportunities and to morally support the family as they are trying to rebuild their lives in the region. BREP’s Middle Eastern program provided the opportunity for the sponsorship group to make a 5-year pledge towards Tyam’s education. BREP’s charitable status made it much easier to reach this objective.”
